It's all about Japan these days

Lord, protect our planet, because we live here, and here we dwell with our daily tragedies.
May our daily reconstruction be the result of the very best that we carry within us.
Give us the courage
to be able to reconstruct what was destroyed
to be able to recover what was lost
to be able to accept what was gone forever.
May you give us courage to look ahead,
may we never look back nor allow our soul to be discouraged.
Lord, give us enthusiasm, because Enthusiasm reaffirms to us that everything is possible, as long as we are totally committed to what we are doing.
Lord, may the Earth continue to transform seeds into wheat, may we continue to transmute wheat into bread. Do not leave us in solitude.
Have compassion on us, Lord. For we often think we are dressed when we are naked.
Do not forget, in your mercy, our friends in Japan, who are now teaching us the meaning of Courage, Reconstruction, Solidarity and Enthusiasm.
Amen

isn't it  funny how   when  BIG shit happens all of sudden  medias and people   forget about the  other small shits that just happen  last week - like  Libya , Egypt, Tunis, Economic crisis , the  earthquake in  New Zealand and  other  shits around the world ( oh  they are not interesting cause only a few  died over there) . Imagine  what if  tomorrow New York  collapses  and 1 million people  die - what's gonna happen ?  People across the globe  will just  switch  to Channel 4 , cause  Channel 4 and New York will be much more  interesting than Channel  2 with  some crappy  Japanese  earthquake (with a death toll of only  about 10 000 -20 000 yellow guys) and a fuckin  nuclear power plant that can't even  make a decent  explosion.
yeap  sounds  mean, rude and  racist but like it or not  those are all essential part of human nature
anyway the  thing is  live free, get high or die  cause  life is short and a tsunami is always  waiting around the corner .

Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk

A pedestrian crossing or crosswalk is a designated point on a road at which some means are employed to assist pedestrians wishing to cross. They are designed to keep pedestrians together where they can be seen by motorists, and where they can cross most safely with the flow of vehicular traffic. Pedestrian crossings are often at intersections, but may also be at other points on busy roads that would otherwise be perilous to attempt to cross. They are common near schools or in other areas where there are a large number of children. Crosswalks can be considered a traffic calming technique.
"Stop for Pedestrians in Crosswalk" sign is a bright attractive sign that urges motorists to use caution as they approach the posted crosswalk. This sign size measures 18"x24". This sign is appropriate when greater sign visibility is needed.

From the Conway Daily Sun
CONWAY — A car struck a pedestrian at a busy North-South Road intersection Tuesday, leaving a North Conway man lying on the pave-ment and bystanders calling for safety improve-ments on a road notorious for crashes.“I saw the guy go fl ying into the air,” said Annette Hines, a witness to the crash at the crossroads of Seavey Street and North-South Road.Bruce Raymond, 35, suffered what police called “non-life-threatening injuries.” He was treated and released hours later from The Memorial Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.“This lady never stopped, she had her blinker on,” Hines said.A green minivan, driven by Sona Kovacikova, 23, of North Conway, signaled that it would be turning right, but continued straight through the crosswalk, striking the man, witnesses said.“He looked and stopped and she never shut the blinker off,” said Hines, of Albany. She brought the man a blanket, comforting him as he stretched out on the hot asphalt before noon as rescuers raced to the scene outside The Conway Daily Sun. “He just said he was hurt-ing real bad.”An antenna and the passenger side mirror were knocked off the minivan and a circular spiderweb-shaped dent was smashed into the windshield just over the wiper blade.

The distraught driver told the Sun that she just had a flat tire and feared that the temporary replacement tire on her car’s front passenger side was going to blow. She attempted to hit her four-way hazard fl ashers as she approached the intersection, but apparently hit the blinker instead.“I worried about my tire,” said the woman, who was visibly upset as she craned over the victim before being led away by rescuers.Conway police Lt. Joe Faia said the woman would not be charged, calling the incident an “unfortunate accident.”Another witness who saw the crash at another angle from the seat of a beer delivery truck said he saw the man step in front of the car. “He just stepped into the crosswalk,” said the man who declined to give his name.A team of investigators spent about two hours recon-structing the accident with high-tech surveying equip-ment.The victim’s sunglasses were hit by a car as they rested on the street and one onlooker moved the lenses to the side of the road.Bystander Shirley B. Mills said a stream of crashes and near misses at North-South Road intersections over the years have left her and her friends on edge traveling the state-built road.“I think a lot of people here are nervous about a lot of places around here,” she said. Mills called for new safety measures, suggesting a light or a four-way stop at Seavey Street. “A couple of my friends have had close calls.”Town offi cials, neighbors and state lawmakers have all called for crackdowns on speeders and safety fi xes at crosswalks and intersections, many with sight lines obscured by fencing and brush. An anonymous donor last year offered $10,000 to boost safety signs just down the street at the Grove Street crossing, used by elderly heading out on foot from two senior housing complexes to the Gibson Senior Center and shopping.A Conway man died in a crash crash in January of 2005 just south or Artist Falls in what was believed at the time to be the fi rst fatality on the state-built road that opened in August of 2002.Around the time of that deadly crash the road racked up 28 accidents in fi ve months and police urged speed-ers to slow down. Last year police said they continued to beef up speed patrols, while noting the design of the road was sound and that most crashes were due to drivers ignoring road signs.Faia said police are compiling new crash data that should be available later this week.Sounds of smashing metal and squealing tires have become fairly common at the scene of Tuesday’s crash. But this one was much quieter than most, and was noticed by offi ce workers and neighbors in Grove Street Apartments only after witnesses and later rescuers began to congregate around the victim.
